Trinity College London
Trinity College London is an international exam board that has been providing assessments since 1877. With a rich heritage of academic rigor and a positive, supportive approach to assessment at all levels. Each year over 600,000 candidates in over 60 countries take a Trinity assessment. Trinity exams and assessments are designed to inspire learners and mark their achievement at each stage of their development and at all levels of competence. The exams focus on assessing skills and how effectively the candidates can apply what they have learnt, not just on knowledge for its own sake. Candidates are also encouraged to bring their own choices and interests into their exams — this motivates students and makes the assessment more interesting.
Trinity Music College Program Highlights:

Exams begin at Grade 1 and go through Grade 8 getting progressively more difficult

No theory prerequisites are required for any of Trinity’s performance-based assessments
Points earned as part of participating in the Trinity Music exam program are eligible for the United Kingdom Universities’ and Colleges’ Admissions Service (UCAS) points, which are open to any student applying for a course of study at a UK university or other higher education institution. Trinity candidates may apply to an approved international credential agency in the USA to have their certificates and diplomas assessed to receive credit equivalence toward college.
Demonstrating musical accomplishments provides evidence of a student’s willingness to learn to set short- and long-term goals, illustrates the determination to achieve challenging tasks, and displays a student’s creativity.
Benefits of the Trinity exams (there are more, but here is a short list):
Ø High school students taking and passing the grades 6-8 exams may get college credits for their Trinity qualifications. Many former candidates have received college credits from their university for their Trinity qualifications.
Ø There are no theory requirements to take the higher-grade practical exams.
Ø High school students have a ready-made video portfolio to send for college applications.
Ø Trinity qualifications on the college application resume sets the students apart and highlight their extra-curricular activities in the performing arts.
Ø Students prepare and videotape when they are ready, so they get to take the exam only when they are ready at any time of the year and, therefore, receive better results.
Ø Like it or not, technology is here to stay, and digital exams are here to stay, which also means that even if one lives in a small town, one can still take the digital exam without having to travel, sometimes long distances, to take the exam, therefore, greater accessibility.
