Ms. Cathrine was born and raised in Northeast Ohio and taught for more than 15 years at public and

private schools in and around Cleveland and Akron. She earned her teaching degree from Miami

University in Oxford, Ohio, where she studied clarinet performance with Dr. Michele Gingras. Cathrine

moved out to the West Coast in 2015 and ended up settling in Issaquah, Washington, about three years ago. Currently, she oversees the band programs at St. Joseph School in Issaquah, St. Luke School Shoreline, and St. Matthew School in Seattle. When not teaching, Cathrine keeps her performance skills sharp playing in pit orchestras for various local musical productions, and she played in the South Sound Symphonic Band in Tacoma. Over the years, Cathrine has taught private lessons on piano, flute, clarinet, and saxophone to a wide variety of students, including young children and adults. She has coached students through solo & ensemble competitions, scholarship auditions, and college entrance exams, and adapts her curriculum to best address the needs and concerns of each student. Whether it’s learning the first notes or preparing for a solo concerto performance, Cathrine works to ensure that every student feels a sense of achievement and success on their chosen instrument.
