Mr. Hector

Ms. Hector Moreno began his musical studies at the age of four in Austin, Texas, starting with piano and eventually switching to cello. In 2004, he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in cello performance and composition from Stanford University. In 2006 he completed his Master’s degree in cello performance at the University of Toronto. While in Canada, he taught at the Classical Music Conservatory located in Roncesvalles, Toronto and served as a guest lecturer on the history and performance-practice of cello as part of the Learning Unlimited organization of Etobicoke, Ontario. Upon returning to Austin, Mr. Moreno performed with numerous Texas orchestras and ensembles, including the Abilene Philharmonic, the Symphony of Southeast Texas, Victoria

Symphony, Temple Symphony, and Round Rock Symphony. 

An avid chamber music lover, Mr. Moreno has participated in a variety of festivals including the Banff Summer Chamber Music Festival, the St. Lawrence String Quartet Seminar, and has also coached for the Austin Chamber Music Center and CHAMPS (Chamber Music in Public Schools) program. He remained an active performer for Music Club Austin and Musical Discovery Chamber Players during his nearly 20-year career in Texas. He has recorded for both classical and non-classical labels, film soundtracks, radio, and collaborated with composers such as Graham Reynolds, Peter Stopschinksi, P. Kellach Waddle, and Allen Robertson in the creation of new works. 

His most rewarding experiences have come from the performance of live musical theatre with companies such as ZACH Theatre, Gilbert and Sullivan Austin, Austin Shakespeare, Ground Floor Theatre, Zilker Hillside Theatre, Magnolia Musical Theatre, and Texas State University Musical Theatre.  As of June 2026, he is extremely grateful to be continuing the next chapter of his musical journey both as a teacher and performer, now living in the vicinity of Seattle, Washington.
