Chris has been playing the cello since the year 2000 when a 2nd -grade classmate’s show-and-tell cello performance piqued his interest. Since then, music has taken Chris across the country (and occasionally out of it). He earned degrees at Interlochen Arts Academy, the University of Miami, and the University of Michigan. From 2010-2014, he was a Miami Stamps Scholar and was the first cellist of the Stamps String Quartet. While chamber music is his favorite, Chris also enjoys playing in orchestras. He has been a member of the Idaho Falls Symphony and the Miami Symphony, and his schools’ orchestras. Recently, Chris just received a Doctorate of performance from the University of Washington in Seattle, where he studied with Sæunn Thorsteinsdóttir. He plays a Christopher Dungey cello on generous loan from the Wong/Engel Cello Library.
